I created this journal in 2010 to be my knitting journal, but honestly it was easier to update Ravelry, so I never quite got around to doing anything here.

Then 2020 happened. And continued into 2021.

I posted a twitter thread about my Ravelry journey, but the summary is that Ravelry's new look ("NuRav") gives me literal headaches and the owners attacked anyone complaining.

So. Hello again, knitting journal!

Some posts here will be about my projects; some about designs I'm toying with; some about general knitting or crochet knowledge. I'm not going to pretend there's any actual overarching structure, but I'll try to use tags.

PATTERN: Grandmother's Favorite Rectangular Dishcloth

This pattern is based on the popular Grandmother’s Favorite Dishcloth pattern (designer unknown), but adapted to be rectangular instead of square.

You can use any yarn (100% cotton worsted weight is the standard for Grandmother’s Favorite Dishcloth, but anything will work) and make the finished object any desired dimension. Amount of yarn used will depend on size made.

PATTERN: Seamless Solid Granny Square

Create a solid granny square with no holes and no visible seam! Can be used with any weight yarn, and a suitable hook size.

The silver square used about 1oz / 61 yards aran weight yarn with an H/5mm hook, to create a 9x9” square. Any yarn will work.

Pattern includes both written instructions (US terminology) and a chart of the first three rounds, and is suitable for beginning crocheters.
